What is the education index of India?

The School Education Quality Index (SEQI) serves as a vital tool for assessing the quality of education provided in schools throughout various States and Union Territories in India. This index, introduced by the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), aims to gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of school education systems. Through the SEQI, policymakers and educators gain insights into the strengths and areas needing improvement within the Indian education landscape.

India’s education system is diverse and vast, with numerous challenges and successes across its various regions. The SEQI delves into factors such as infrastructure, learning outcomes, and the availability of resources for students and teachers. By focusing on these key areas, the index provides a comprehensive view of where each State and Union Territory stands in terms of education quality. This allows for targeted interventions and policy decisions to enhance the educational experience and outcomes for students across the country.

In the inaugural edition of the SEQI, the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) laid out a foundation for ongoing assessment and improvement. This index serves not only as a benchmarking tool but also as a call to action for stakeholders to collaborate in uplifting India’s education standards. As such, the SEQI plays a crucial role in the continuous evaluation and advancement of the school education system in India.
